A charming stay in one of Morocco's most beautiful cities
Essaouira, formerly Mogador, is a magnificent and unique place where east and west intermingle like nowhere else in Morocco. The city, nestled into its pink ramparts looks out onto the ocean. It has become a Moroccan travel classic and it’s easy to see why: lively alleyways, restaurants with terraces that give onto the harbour, beaches, walks along the ramparts. Essaouira is a great place to visit all year long. You’ll only need about three days to see the city but you can prolong your stay with excursions along the coast or days walking and relaxing on the beach. The Gnaouia Festival is a celebration of culture not to be missed if you are around in June.
